Entering the 3rd Trimeseter

So, we're just into 27 weeks now. As of the last ultrasound yesterday, Twin A and Twin B are "standing" facing each other and talking away about how to keep mommy up at night and when to take turns kicking. :) I think I'm outnumbered.

We're also taking advantage of this momentous occasion to start out bathroom renovations (yes, we are crazy) and do some painting. Anyone have any suggestions for nursery colours?

We've gotten generous hand-me-downs from family friends - just have to figure out what all the stuff is for now. :)

Another ultrasound

Another 2 weeks, another ultrasound. We've been told that twins are monitored more closely, especially during weeks 20 - 28 when there is a higher risk for twin-to-twin transmission. Mom and twins are still progressing well.

Twin A is currently head down and seems to kick more.

Twin B still seems to be the squirmy one. S/he is currently transverse, so laying across mom's tummy. We haven't seen a clear picture of his/her face in several weeks.

Can you tell what's what in this ultrasound? Apparently Twin A is on the xx and Twin B is on the xxx. Not to worry, we're not too sure what anything is either. (Photos to come after we scan them in.)

Into Week 24 now...

Twin A and B are doing well. As of the last ultrasound, they had flipped again - Twin A is now doing a headstand and Twin B has her/his foot in his/her sister/brother's face. Both are doing well and are often found kicking up a storm. I get quite distracted at work by it. This past week, we could actually see Twin A's kick as a bump that appeared (and diappeared just as quickly as it had appeared) on my belly.

No photos to post this time as the twins either had an arm in front of his/her face during the ultrasound or was facing the back, so we couldn't see her/his face. The four chambers of their hearts look good, as do the spine and femur (that's about all I can distinguish in the ultrasounds - everything else is pretty much grey speckle).

It's started to hit me in the past few weeks that the twins will be a reality in the not too distant future - hopefully a little later than sooner. :) What a miracle it is that there are actually new lives being created inside me. It seems too grand to fathom. And what a blessing it is that God gives us "9 months" to prepare our hearts, our minds and our home to welcome his gifts to us.
